quick look :: cozy modern letterpress

woodgrain-letterpress

i’ve been doing some organizing and found some of my favorite designs along the way…so i thought it’d be fun to share some quick snaps (forgive the not so great iphone snaps!) to kick off wedding season and provide some inspiration for all the new brides-to-be out there! big congrats if you’re one of them!!

with all this cold weather we’re getting, this first one seems appropriate! a cozy modern, wintery letterpress design with bright punches of neon green and navy blue. and, in case the main design being letterpressed isn’t enough texture for ya, we went a step further and did a blind woodgrain/bark pattern for some added detail and an all-over texture to this simple design. the woodgrain being white on white seemed perfect for winter and a little modern touch. and the double thick cotton stock was super dreamy.

there were also details cards, a custom map and a fun rsvp postcard, so to keep things on budget, we flat printed the remaining pieces. we then tied them all together with navy and white bakers twine and it all slipped into a shimmery navy envelope finished with a custom wrap label.

a superfun detail: the pattern on the label and some of the other pieces was custom-designed to coordinate with the brides dress! i just love little surprise details like that!

you can see more images of the wedding and stationery here! if you’re interested in working together on your own custom design just contact me using the form below!

a peek behind the scenes :: a few invites in the making

i don’t know why but one of my favorite things to do while i am assembling a big order of invites is to snap a couple of pictures of the progress and of course the big ol’ stack of them when they are done…{ and they are usually taken with my iphone, so you’ll have to excuse any quality issues! :) } here are some recent behind the scenes shots and a warning that you may see a little messiness, but its all a part of the creative process :)

fall leaves boxed invitations i just LOVED how detailed these were….let me tell you those details made for quite the assembly line! the design included a three layer metallic invitation panel in copper, red and gold printed with full color leaves and brown thermography which was set on a bed of real fall leaves! the two layer rsvp card was also done in brown thermography and included a red return envelope with the address printed in flat gold metallic ink. there was also a folded reception card with illustrated maps to the reception and ceremony hidden inside. these were all wrapped with moss green ribbon and attached to the lid of the boxes, which were then secured with a copper band and coordinating address label.

next up…
tying the knot invitation this is a new version of an old favorite (and there are more of these to come too!)… this one incorporates the same navy blue gatefold with grommets and rope accent, but brightened up the inside with crisp white and a gold accent layer as well as two layered inserts and a super fun navy and white striped envelope liner.

another new design, which i can’t WAIT to post more on { not too much here, but just a little taste } are these new nautical inspired designs for a northern michigan lakeside wedding. i LOVE the navy blue / kelly green mix and the use of bakers twine for a touch of whimsy which is carried throughout the design with the use of diagonal stripes in the custom envelope liners and wrap labels. and to accent the typographical design, i used fun nautical graphics throughout the invite and insert cards. so fun! stay tuned for more on these!

stay tuned…lots, lots more coming soon!!!

a new year…new stuff

Posted in invitations tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 1:07 am by meant to be sent

whew. it has been quite a year and it is definitely ending on a busy note! as this one comes to a close, i am super excited for the new year to begin….i have some exciting plans for the blog and main site! so stay tuned for new developments…

a sneak peek: i am planning on incorporating idea and inspiration boards into my blog and site. i just love them! and they are a great way to both inspire and capture ideas.

i sometimes do an idea board for my clients to illustrate a general design direction… here is an example of a very simple one i put together to give an overall feel for an invitation and show the materials to be used…some will be like this, while others will be more a collage of images gathered to capture ideas for a “look” or color scheme to inspire your invitation design…

{ TIP } if you are so inclined to gather your own images, this is also a great way to communicate what you are looking for and the type of event you are planning!

(the one below is more a way for me to quickly show a bride pieces of an invitation design for general direction)
